Clients

Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program (HVLP) is a not-for-profit that provides legal services to low-income people by coordinating a process to allow attorneys to volunteer and accept cases. Each year, HVLP assists more than 10,000 people in need of critical legal assistance. HVLP works in collaboration with other local and state groups to provide Equal Justice to serve its diverse client community.

HVLP has a proven track record in working to provide access to our civil justice system. Over the past 25 years, HVLP has assisted clients in receiving representation cases in cases that threaten family safety and security, including domestic violence, child custody rights and child support, and cases relating to housing issues such as foreclosures and unlawful evictions as well as other areas of need.

HVLP actively promotes mutual respect, acceptance, teamwork and productivity. An organization whose staff, Board and clients are diverse in background, experience, race, color, national origin, gender, age, religious preference, marital status, sexual orientation, sensory, mental or physical abilities, veteran status, and other qualities strengthens the program while reinforcing its commitment to basic fairness.
